Bone of My Bone
And so it was that
YHWH laid down beside sleeping Adam
Coated Godself in muddy clay
Forming her in His image
And stayed a moment there
Relishing His soft curves and clever mind
Noticing His breath and the warm earth
Then He rose
And parted the side of man
Plucked the third rib from Adam’s chest
Exposing his heart forever more
With Adam’s rib, He etched sigils into her soft clay form
Wind so she could not be captured
Water so she would ebb and flow
Earth so she would know the old ways
Fire so she would know the new
At last he stood back,
Pleased with His work
He breathed a happy sigh
As the pre-dawn mist settled over the one-become-two
YHWH left them then,
Sleeping side by side
To awaken together
Free to discover and wander the garden together
—
Bone of my Bone, Flesh of my Flesh, my dearest love. I love you more with each passing year. Life with you is a shining jewel. May we awaken and wander the garden together until the end of our days.
